Editorial Policy

Plein Air Painting is editorially independent, and coverage decisions are never influenced by commercial relationships.

No one pays to appear on this site. We don't accept payment for reviews, recommendations, or editorial coverage of any kind, and ratings and assessments aren't for sale. If we cover something, it's because we think it's worth covering for our readers, full stop.

We have affiliate relationships with a number of retailers and networks. Those relationships exist to help fund the site, not to shape what gets written. A product with a higher commission rate doesn't get a more favourable write-up than one with no affiliate arrangement at all. We try to be genuinely useful, which means being honest about what works, what doesn't, and who a product is or isn't suited to.

We publish guides, reviews, and tutorials covering techniques, equipment, locations, and the wider craft of painting outdoors. Some of it is aimed at people who've never picked up a brush outside before; some of it goes deeper into specific skills and challenges. The common thread is that everything is aimed at real artists painting in real UK conditions.

Content goes through research, writing, and editorial review before it's published. We take accuracy seriously, and we try to make sure that what we publish reflects current information rather than relying on what was true a year or two ago.

We don't publish sponsored posts or branded content. If that policy ever changes, any such content will be clearly labelled as a paid partnership or advertisement in line with ASA and CAP Code requirements. We haven't published any to date and don't plan to.

Errors happen. When they do, we correct them promptly. For material corrections, we add a note to the article explaining what was changed and when. Product information is reviewed on a rolling basis, and articles include last-updated dates where relevant.

If you spot something that needs correcting, please write to us at hello@pleinairpainting.co.uk. We're grateful for corrections, however small.

A quick note...

We use analytics to see how the site is used and which guides are actually useful. No data is shared and you can opt out if you'd rather not.
