Pochade Boxes:

There are a number of Pochade boxes to choose from and Artists are always striving to find the 'perfect' box.  They all have their Pros & Cons and you have to choose the box that suits you.  Below I've included details of the boxes I use and in the Links section there is a list of the main Pochade box manufacturers.

Abbey's Easels - Compact Pochade:

This box is an absolute bargain at £39.  It will hold three 6 x 8 inch panels in the lid, the sliding palette will slide to the right or left and there is room underneath for a number of paints and small brushes.  It also comes with a strap for carrying over your shoulder.

If you want to give Plein air painting a go withought having to fork out hundreds of pounds for an expensive box then this is the one for you.  I really love it!!

I've put 7 tubes of W&N Artisan water mixable oil paints in mine (Titanium white, Ivory Black, Ultramarine, Crimson Alzirin, Yellow Oxide, Cad Red light and Cad yellow).  I also carry approx 6 brushes and a small water container.   The water mixable oils are great because you don't need Turps!!  And it makes cleaning the brushes a lot easier.
